This is such a great piece. I think Kyle’s candidness is refreshing, but as pointed out, admission without concrete redress often rings hollow. The core issue is not just “balance”, but more or less, about power: the power/impact of AI giants copyright norms under the guise of innovation. Creators are not really asking for favours; they are asking for protection under the law. That the government resisted Kidron's amendment speaks volumes. “Working groups” and warm words won’t cut it to be honest. Until creators see enforceable rights, trust remains aspirational. Thank you for continuing to spotlight what’s really at stake here :)

Thank you Hannah, and totally agree. Kyle asked for trust then said he'd never used the word 'uncertain'. That word has been a core theme of the government's strategy to justify the copyright overhaul!
